Analysis of bagasses and trash utilisation options : SRDC final report QUT008

Abstract

The range of potential value adding processes for bagasse and trash currently being considered by the industry is diverse. There is, therefore, an urgent need for a preliminary evaluation of the relative merits of these processes, products and markets in order to provide appropriate commercial and research direction.This project is aimed at providing the industry with a first order analysis of the relative technical and financial merits of a wide range of value adding options for bagasse and trash and is the result of a direct call from SRDC for a study in this area.An Industry Consultative Group comprising representatives from both the milling and growing sectors of the industry was formed in the early stages to provide feedback and input at salient stages of the project.
