This project has obtained, for the first time, data on the performance and efficiency of furrow irrigated canefields. In particular, it has shown the water application efficiencies on high infiltration soils it is generally high (typically >60%). However, furrow irrigation efficiency has also been shown to be closely related to the irrigation design and management practices, with large variation both between sites and throughout the season attributed to management and environmental differences.
