dc.description.abstractThe genus Scirpophaga Treitschke belongs to the family Pyralidae, subfamily Schoenobiinae. Members of this genus are mainly stem borers of graminaceous crops. The genus is distributed in the Palaearctic, Ethiopian, Oriental and Australian regions. It is especially important in the Indian subregion, where species are pests of rice and sugarcane (Arora 2000).
